Coming Home to Yourself: Finding Belonging in Our Modern World
A two-day online retreat for the season of St Patrick, exploring belonging, courage, prayer, and the long walk inward.
This offering meets St Patrick as pilgrim, exile, and returner; a life shaped by loss, endurance, devotion, and deep interior grounding.
Through Irish traditional song, poetic recitation, ritual, and thoughtful conversation, Coming Home to Yourself explores belonging as something cultivated through attention, faithfulness, and lived experience.
It speaks to those navigating transitions; relocation, parenthood, loss, reinvention, or spiritual fatigue, and to anyone longing for steadier ground in uncertain times, those who sense that something older, rooted, and life-giving is calling them home.
Spend time with like-minded souls and with this extraordinary mother and her two sons as you explore how the story of St Patrick, then and now, offers joyful and poignant insight for your own life today.

Coming Home to Yourself: Finding Belonging in Our Modern World
A two-day online retreat exploring belonging, prayer, and inner courage; offering a grounded and joyful path toward spiritual steadiness and a renewed sense of home within yourself.
Session One: Exile and the Long Threshold
We begin with Patrick’s experience of exile; captivity, dislocation, and the loss of what once felt familiar. Through story, reflection, and shared listening, we explore how exile becomes a formative space for the soul. How experience shapes character. How endurance is learned slowly. How prayer often begins in vulnerability and longing.
Patrick’s long years of obscurity reveal the quiet work of transformation that unfolds when no one is watching. We turn toward our own in-between seasons, those stretches of life where clarity feels distant and patience is required.
Prayer is explored as a lived practice that can be rediscovered and sustained in contemporary life. Together we consider how to cultivate stamina of soul, remain attentive in ordinary days, and live with greater presence in a technologised world.
Participants will be invited into reflective practice and small-group conversation, creating a gentle and held space for honest sharing.
Session Two: Voice, Naming, and Homecoming
On our second day, we move toward voice and belonging. Patrick assumed a new name as his calling came into focus, and we reflect on the act of naming in our own lives; how identity, vocation, and inner authority emerge through lived experience.
Drawing on Patrick’s Confessions, one of the earliest spiritual autobiographies, we explore truth-telling rooted in humility and courage. We also engage the Celtic understanding of the Holy Spirit as Neart (strength, force, vitality) and consider how this animating presence moves within us today.
Participants will begin and complete the creation of a personal Lorica / Breastplate / Sciathlúireach; a traditional prayer of grounding, protection, and spiritual orientation to carry forward into daily life.
Our retreat concludes with reflection on homecoming as an interior settlement; living from one’s own ground with steadiness, service, tenderness, and strength.
