The Chosen Family: Friendship & Finding Kinship
What if friendship was never meant to be casual?
What if it was sacred? Transformative? A portal to our truest selves?
In a time when the word friend is clicked more often than it is felt, we're gathering to remember what it really means; to connect, to be seen, to belong.
This retreat is a tender, two-day exploration of friendship, not as something nice to have, but as a soul practice. As a calling. As a creative and courageous act of the heart. Through live teachings, reflective writing, gentle group sharing, and poetic provocations, we’ll delve into how friendship shapes us, and how we might shape it in return.

Give the Gift of Friendship

The Chosen Family: Friendship & Finding Kinship
Over the course of two deeply reflective and gently transformative days, The Chosen Family: Friendship & Finding Kinship invites you to explore the sacred art of friendship — not just as a social bond, but as a soulful, transformative path to inner and communal belonging.
Day One: The Courage to Connect
On Day One, we’ll journey into the courage it takes to connect. Through poetry, story, and shared reflection, we’ll reclaim the childlike instinct to open ourselves to others; to say “Wanna play?” without overthinking or perfection. We’ll explore what it means to offer presence, to be seen without armour, and to hold space for the full spectrum of friendship, including its heartbreaks, silences, and sacred endurance. We’ll reflect on how true friendship requires both vulnerability and devotion, and how platonic love, when fully felt, can call us to become more human, more tender, and more whole. Participants will be invited into small breakout circles to share their own experiences of connection and disconnection; a gentle, intimate space to feel witnessed and heard.
Day Two: Inner Kinship & The Chosen Family
On Day Two, we turn inward, exploring the rich terrain of inner friendship; how we befriend ourselves, our breath, our solitude. Drawing on Celtic wisdom and the tradition of anam cara, or soul friendship, we’ll explore what it means to recognise kindred spirits and build a chosen family. We’ll discuss how kinship often begins in quiet moments of resonance, in the mysterious recognition of another soul who somehow calls us home. We’ll reflect on how solitude is not loneliness, but the soil in which deep belonging is cultivated. With poetic prompts, contemplative sharing, and another round of intimate breakout circles, we’ll complete our retreat with a renewed sense of connection to ourselves, to each other, and to the unseen thread that weaves through all soulful companionship.
Whether you’re craving deeper friendship, healing from disconnection, or simply wishing to explore this part of life with more intention, this retreat offers a nourishing pause — a chance to listen more closely to the longings of your heart and meet others doing the same.
